 About Us

Sally Middlewood Farm Bakery and Tearoom is situated at Glebe Farm, alongside the A64 in Potter Brompton, midway between Malton and Scarborough and has been baking traditional farmhouse bread, cakes, pastries, tray bakes and desserts now for over 30 years.

Established by “farmer’s daughter turned baker” Sally, the business initially focussed on supplying a range of quality desserts to the trade. Since then, a lot of hard work (and the support of a DEFRA grant) has seen the business develop its bakery and tearoom, becoming a popular stopping off point for locals as well as the many visitors to the coast each year.

Open 7 days a week, the bakery and tearoom offers traditional Yorkshire Fayre. Over 90% of products are made on the premises and served by one of the team of no less than 10 local staff, who have helped Sally create a really friendly and welcoming place to shop and eat.

The 350 acre farm is run separately from the bakery by Sally's brother Andrew and son Robert, with the occasional input from parents John and Janet who took over the tenancy in 1956.

Growing cereals and fodder beet, as well as rearing sheep, the farm has over 200 free range hens. All the eggs produced are either sold to the shop customers or used in the bakery. You simply can’t get any fresher than that!

In addition to providing the very best in Yorkshire farmhouse baking, Sally Middlewood guarantees to give a warm welcoming smile to customers old and new. We look forward to seeing you soon.
